Tools & Supplies / Re: SUMI INK + JEWELRY!!
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:43:02 PM »
thanks, everyone! i might have to look into a sonic cleaner. i've never heard of it.  but yes, as of right now, my rings still have a yellowish tinge to them on the bottom half (palm-side). haven't had time to look into how to restore them, but might eventually speak with the jeweler who we originally ordered them from.

Tools & Supplies / SUMI INK + JEWELRY!!
« on: June 05, 2014, 08:15:40 PM »
has this happened to anyone?? i was washing out my glass jars that had some sumi ink/water in them and it seems the ink has stained or taken off the white gold finish to my engagement/wedding rings! could this really be what happened?

the bottom of both of my rings are yellowish now whereas the tops still look like white gold.  i did very little research and found that white gold is not a real metal so you do have to sometimes get it re-coated with rhodium for maintenance, but i know this must've been caused by my sumi ink because both rings have the same amount of yellowing or "wear" even though i don't always wear both at the same time.  if it was a more natural wear, i'd think they'd maybe have different degrees of yellowing...

so sad. :(

i know i'm late to the party, but thanks for this erica!!! it's great to see "in real life" approximately how much water one should add as well as what the consistency of the ink should look like!

i think saran/plastic wrap works for this as well!! and it's very flexible! i use this technique for liquidy/messy foods in tupperware containers! haha - so it doesn't get in the creases. =P

Kind Critique / Re: Opinions on Monogram Stationery
« on: April 15, 2014, 02:18:54 PM »
i actually like it by itself - without the border best, but if i were to choose one of the borders, i'd say the middle one.  i also love how balanced the monogram looks, but i'm personally more of a stickler when it comes to what it should actually say: VMS vs VMSS, so i'd be interested in seeing it with just one 'S' to see if it can also look balanced with just one.  -  however i still really like it the way it is and it's CLEVER! :) and i love clever! haha :)  great job!
