No not at all! I totally missed the date on some of the posts and didn’t realize only the most recent one was actually recent. Never mind me!

Tapatalk can be aggressive tho. I don’t know if that’s an option that you can turn off. I just straight up won’t go to some sites with it because every time you change pages while on mobile it’s giving you another pop up insisting you use tapatalk that you have to click no to before you can keep doing what you were doing.

I couldn’t help but want to look up how old she actually lived until. Looks like she died a year later:

@SueL I’ve had that happen! I thiiink that it means you’ve been hacked and are being used as a spam account. You should probably change your password.

Thanks, Erica!

I figured some of us on here already owned these machines and would like to hear there’s one more use for it.  :)

This might belong better under tools - Erica if you think so please feel free to move it!
--

So I've owned a Cricut cutting machine for a few years now, but I stopped using it at least a year ago because the software was too limiting for me. I'd determined not too much later that the silhouette would give me more of what I actually wanted. I FINALLY was able to afford the upgrade without feeling guilty about getting something I sort of already had. And I also acquired a tool for it, that's made by a third party called the Adjustable Pen Holder - so that I wouldn't be limited to Silhouette's sketch pens.

And... I ended up very quickly having the idea that I could probably put a pencil in it and say... have it write my pencil guides on an envelope.
So I tried it tonight. and it worked PERFECTLY, like I'm wow'd by how nice it came out, and how fast! I always felt like these machines moved kind of slow being computer run, but knowing how long I'd take to do the same pencil lines with a ruler, I can really appreciate the speed it does move at.

Here's a movie of it drawing the lines: (I have it as a story on instagram, which is why the text is there)

I like to lay on the floor to write normally - like with normal penmanship, but that only works because I can lay my head down (on the floor or the pillow) and the change in view doesn’t matter because my regular penmanship doesn’t need to be near perfect.

I couldn’t manage doing calligraphy- I would need to hold my head up and that tends to be uncomfortable to me after a while.

Erica do you own a smart tv in the room where you have these conversations? Samsung specifically I know makes a tv that WILL listen in on your conversations for marketing info. It’s likely Alexa and the like do that too, but you don’t expect it as much from your smart TVs.

In my opinion you should really get a scanner for at home, if you can Taking a picture of your work with a dslr is never going to be as good because it’s hard to get a straight parallel shot and unless you’re using a good tripod, your going to get hand-shake too, which will introduce blurriness.

That sounds to me like it wasn’t a problem with Dropbox. That sounds like Adobe Bridge managed to mess up your move and wiped everything. Dropbox then just did it’s sync, read the folder as deleted and synced that to its folder. Dropbox’s restore functionality is what saved you.

Personally I use Syncplicity because they’re folder sync features are better than Dropbox, but they would have likely responded similarly in this situation.

You should be able to trust cloud back-up to have your files in all but the most extreme situations. But if you really want to doubly make sure you’re safe, then AAAndrew’s solution is the way to go.

As a general idea, without getting really technical or into too much of the title controversy:

I have always understood the title, no matter where it was being issued from, as the equivalent to getting a certification in technology fields. While you can certainly learn and be proficient (and respected!) in an area of technology without going through the paid process to receive a certification for it, it can be convenient and useful to have, as it provides a sort of 'proof' of accomplishment. Some people like them and feel they add significance to their resume, and some people feel it's not worth the time, money, and effort to acquire.

I usually go with "hello" when testing any new writing utensil, because 'h' is one of my favorite letters to write.

WHAT. THAT'S EXCITING.
I live really close, so I've been going to the DC Pen Show every year I've been here. How cool!!

Location services can be turned off, and that is one of the few things that bothers me. Most info I don't care if the internet knows, but where I am in the current moment is not one of them, so I'm really careful with my location based settings.

I've never noticed super creepy advertising, like you're describing, Erica - Id suggest double checking your individual app settings.

I've noticed it getting more accurate to me as a person, but I actually like that, I mind advertisements a lot less when they may actually be something I'm interested in.
