I forgot to mention @jordantruster ’s Spencerian ProCreate class is fantastic. It is so thoughtful and so well planned out. The worksheets are fabulous. It is a GREAT way to learn Spencerian.

This is the funniest post I have read in a LONG time!  ;D

I’m not one for experimenting much with inks. I stick to the ones that have worked for me (which is good and bad). You’ve mentioned a couple I must try now.

I learned early on to steer clear of Speedball India Ink. I have had many a Parallel Pen ink that bleeds. It’s more like Fountain Pen Ink. Which is really interesting… don’t know what kind of paper they think we are writing on with fountain pen ink but it definitely bleeds.

I tried making my own Walnut Ink out of crystals once … once. It was a mess! And I never got the consistency right. So I stick to my Norton’s Walnut Drawing Ink.

Thanks for giving me a good laugh!  ;D

@Cyril Jayant That’s so exciting! Definitely check out the free tutorials on Every Tuesday. So much to learn there. I am also taking the Ultimate ProCreate Course. I haven’t made it through yet but there is a lot. You can also find a ton of free tutorials on YouTube.

Have fun! Hope you’ll share what you do after some practice!  :)

Welcome! We have a few uncial lovers here - myself included. I have really been enjoying seeing people’s pointed pen uncial recently. I agree, it has a bit of a whimsy too it that is very enticing. Looking forward to seeing some of your work!

@Mary_M Yes! She donated 4,000 acres to preservationists.

I understand what you’re saying. Here in TN, the farmland is disappearing every day.   :'(

Don’t be too hard on yourself. I think it looks great! And I love the idea of painting in the outline! Can’t wait to see the final.  :-*

Oh no!!!  :-[

Hmmm…. I wonder what’s happening. I tried it on my desktop, laptop, and ipad and all three worked. What browser are you using? Did anyone else have the same trouble?

The toothpaste usually works. But less is more. I always use a flame. I have since 1993 and have never had it ruin a nib or cause any issues. I keep one of those gas grill lighters nearby.  ;D

Hi @KathyK !  So sorry to hear about your nib. Yes, sumi ink can be very corrosive, even if the nib is washed and dried. How did you prepare the nib? Sometimes an over zealous prep can sometimes prematurely allow a nib to corrode.

Let us know if you have any questions as you enter this awesome world of Copperplate! Welcome to Flourish!  :)
