I got my first choices too! First half is Textura with Julian Waters and second half is Carolingian and Uncials with Sheila Waters! I'm super excited!

What a wonderful cause!

However, I really feel like vintage nibs will be lost on a beginner. Most likely a variety of flex/semi flex etc may confuse the newbie and there is every possibility that s/he will just leave the nibs unused in a desk drawer forever. I don't think they would even appreciate the fact that it is vintage. I think a bunch of Nikko Gs is easier to teach on and if they are truly inspired by calligraphy, they can keep using it and know where to get more.

Everything else in the kit sounds wonderful and yes, your time is the most valuable of them all! Perhaps you're also missing some exemplars and how tos.. which you can print from Iampeth of course.

Ugh.. I decided to go to Letterworks instead of Iampeth this year.. a very difficult decision. I had to actually make plans to go out on Saturday morning so I wouldn't be able to register last minute! Have fun for me!

Open Flourish | General Discussion / Re: Large Deckled Edge Paper??

Here are some great larger papers which are pointed pen friendly and has lovely deckled edges. Just make sure to get the hot press version of anything.

If you want to trim it with deckled edge you can wet the edges with water before tearing.

I mailed mine out today, and the usually grumpy postal guy actually cracked a smile. Wow!
It is scheduled to arrive Saturday, but let me know if anyone on my list didn't get it.. I do have tracking for them all.

Really, how come?? I called it cursive cos it implies a lot less stringent rules than 'business writing'...

Mine's ready but not mailed yet.. I haven't found the time to bring them to the post office and 'do battle'... lol! But I promise they'll be sent this week!!

Flourishing / Re: Running out of ink
« on: March 13, 2017, 02:10:50 PM »
Yes.. it depends on the nib.. a smaller 303 won't hold as much ink as a Principal or something bigger. Also what paper were you using? A lower quality paper like copy paper will soak up more ink. Are you also applying pressure? That also uses up ink. And going too slow? Going too slow will cause ink to flow more cos of gravity... thicker ink will last longer than thinner ink too.. either way re-inking is probably inevitable but fixing the above combinations may help.
