Erica, I am floored and moved to tears by your words.
I only wanted to thank you for all that you do for us,
I really appreciate all the information and calligraphy
insights I can find in this forum. I am amazed at the
warm welcome I have experienced and I am looking
forward to spending many happy hours online. And
even offline I am starting to get involved and I love
it so much. It is so hard to find other people who are
willing to talk about ink, pens and paper and I cherish
finding just this group of people here.
So thank you, thank you so much!
Best wishes,
Nicole

This is so good to see for a newbie!
I have only been practicing for just under 4 weeks and my hand is very slowly
getting used to the moves. Last night was spent doing sheets and sheets of i`s...
Right now I cannot wait to get better LOL. But even if I am not liking my stuff
yet I am having a ball practicing. It is still beyond me how one is supposed to
keep the same slant angle and thickness of stroke. Let alone all those amazing
Flourishes and fancy letters all of you are doing here.

Thanks for sharing and giving me new hope *smiles

so this is my first try, 3 1/2 weeks ago

and in the second pic it`s what I wrote 2 days ago.

Welcome in the FF!
I am from Italy, Milano and a beginner as far as calligraphy is concerned.
Have a lot of fun here and keep in touch
C

thank you, wishing you a great experience, too.
Btw, I have spent my summer holiday traveling through beautiful Italy.
Venice and then on to small villages in tuscany and eventually Florence.
It was such a wonderful trip full of beauty! You live in such a pretty country!!

I am so excited about this forum that I stumbled upon by chance.
All my life I have had this soft spot for writing and pens, ink, notebooks,
all things pretty that are connected to writing. So it didn't surprise anyone
that I went to study graphic-design. I was swept away by the many things
one could do with a computer, but my love for ink, pen and paper remained.
No matter what could be done with that computer of mine, my love for
the real thing remained and I often incorporate lettering and illustrating
into my job.
For many years I have tried to learn calligraphy, teaching myself with books.
But I never quite stuck with it, always ending up being very frustrated with
my own work and never meeting my own high standard. Thus giving up
very quickly every time.
This time feels different though. I have fallen in love with calligraphy
again and this time I am pretty sure I will follow through, I have my mind
set to it... I will start learning copperplate. Right now I am only 2 weeks into
practice, but it sure makes me feel so happy.
I hope to finde likeminded people here! People willing to discuss ink, nibs,
pens and paper seem to be so rare in my real life  ;D

So, hello everyone,
Nicole
