Just echoing what Natascha said...PHOTOS PLEASE!!   ;D
Just a guess, but I would bet most entries have not yet been made, much less received (the deadline is the end of March for sending them). Posting them before they are received would rather spoil the surprise for the recipient, I would think.

Flourishing / Re: Fourishing: practice sheets?

This exercise is difficult...but worthwhile, I believe.

I devised it as a 'warming-up' exercise for flourishing. The difficulty lies in the reversal of the shape at the halfway point. Control over this sudden change of direction, is valuable in producing free flourishing IMO. I have to admit that this was the best of several attempts!

Do you change the orientation of the paper or pen in doing this exercise?

Here's another before and after, this one is my mother's handwriting over the years.
The top writing is from a scrapbook she kept, the writing  describing her time at a prom in 1941. She was taught the Palmer method of writing in school.
On the bottom is a photo I took of her on her 70th birthday, with a note she wrote a few weeks earlier. 50 years had passed and her writing looks the same. Below that, a postcard she wrote at age 80--amazingly the same. I guess your writing remains the same over a lifetime, unless steps are taken to change it along the way.

For now, I'd like to leave this here because I want to avoid duplicating content throughout the site.  I saw your thread, though, AnasaziWrites, and I may have things to add to it.  Thanks for starting it.
Sounds great.

Inspired by Matthew_R's post and the enthusiastic response to share similar posts, I'll start this thread here for anyone interested in the idea of posting samples of handwriting from friends and relatives of the past (or present, if you like).  Any ideas welcome. Even your own writing.

Here is a picture of my grandmother (fathers mother) at age 18, in 1912, and the earliest sample of her writing I could find at the moment, written in 1922.

Here she is in 1971, and a sample of a letter she sent my parents a few months earlier. Still very legible at age 77. The Mike she is referring to is me.

maybe we should start another thread where people could share their loved one's handwriting--I treasure my grandmother's as well and would love to see more!! :)

I reallyyyyyy like this idea!!!
I agree. Let's get it going. I'll post a thread entitled "Letters from Loved Ones" in the general open forum so anyone who likes this idea can post. Perhaps, if Mathew wishes, he could move this post over to it (only if you want, though).

English Court Hand--it is pretty. Almost like writing in code for modern eyes.

22 in last August.  Gonna be  a ornamental penman in 23, engrossers script writer till 24, hope to get a great hold on both soon!

Ahhh the optimism of the Youth :D

65 this year. Hope to have passable Spencerian hand after 10 years of study and practice (seven more to go) and a nodding acquaintance with a few other scripts along the way. Hope to write something in my lifetime that my harshest critic judges needing no improvement.

Lovely Fractur.
The quote by Thoreau--very thought inducing.
The less time we have, the more valuable it becomes.

If you want kids to learn cursive, just tell them it's a secret way of cursing.
Brilliant.

Tools & Supplies / Re: My Favorite Nibs for Pointed Pen

Uuuugh. I have found my favorite vintage nib out of the huge lot that I've gotten to try lately and what sucks is that while I do have a good handful of them (16), I can't find them online at all which means they're probably pretty uncommon. Esterbrook 528. So fits my hand and the amount of pressure I like to use perfectly. Not too springy and not too stiff.
Try PM'ing Penstaff (Harvey). He has a huge collection and might have some for sale.
