@Sanbearz, so far I know there's Straits Art Co near Bras Basah, overjoyed.sg or at Sim Lim, and Art Friend.

Overjoyed seems a little pricey to me, and Straits Art should have a wider variety of nibs. Art Friend has Nikko Gs, and I guess the regular calligraphy kits...

I also came across a listing on Carousell for nibs and the cheap speedball oblique holders.

Go to New York Central Art Supply at 62 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10003. You can reach them at (212) 473-7705, but I know for sure they have holders, ink and the EF 66 though I'm not sure about the Brause Rose. They close at 6.15pm though!

If you cannot get there in time, I have extras on hand. Let me know

I was just about to post about this very same book because I've been looking for it. I used to see it for less than $5 on Amazon and suddenly BAM! Those disappeared and the ones on Amazon now are selling for hundreds!

I just saw the pre-order on Amazon yesterday so I emailed Dover Publications and said  the book is due to be released end November 2015 

Unfortunately by then I will no longer be in the states and I am going to have to find some way of getting my hands on that book.... bummer for international shipping rates!

Just wanted to bring this up again since it's so close - I really do want to go for this event on Sunday but I'm wondering if I can get in if I'm not a buyer or seller?

I am even considering the possibility of making a friend onsite and asking if I can pass off as their 13 year old daughter since children under 14 are allowed but must be accompanied by a registered person. 

Does anyone know? It seems like an incredible event I really do want to have a glimpse of stationery heaven!!

Hey Nico,

I would think the two main online calligraphy suppliers for many is Paperinkarts or John Neal Bookseller (www.johnnealbooks.com). All I know is the size of your hand is also a factor in determining the best length or width of the oblique holders.

If you have about $7-8 more to spare, The Hourglass Adjustable Oblique is said to be "the finest production pen holder available today" by both Dr. Joe Vitolo and Chris from Yoke Pen Co. Here's the link: http://www.paperinkarts.com/hourgl.html

Joi also recommended it as a good upgrade from the speedball oblique holder before going into custom-made holders.

Thanks! I just want to make sure I'm making full use of my practice instead of practising the wrong strokes repeatedly... is there a way to make sure I get the downstroke right? Winters' also says in her book that the counter cannot be too large so I'm just stuck with a how-big-is-too-big kind of situation!

Hi guys, I'm using Eleanor Winters' book and trying to figure out how to write the minuscule s right but I can't seem to get it right... It feels so unnatural! I attached a few pictures with my practice and numbered them so it's easy to refer to them. What am I doing wrong? I feel like my slant is off and my shade too thick beginning at the waist line, and I struggle with rounding the bottoms... and...and..and...and..

I guess just general inconsistency. Also - is it okay that the oval at the end of the 's' crosses the lead-in stroke?

Would appreciate any help on getting it right, thanks in advance!!
