Haven't had any experience with that lightbox but I guess lightboxes are always good to have because they make things easier, but I think you can still get by without lightboxes. If you find it too much of a hassle to draw lines and/or use paper that's too thick to see guidelines underneath, then go ahead with the lightbox if you've cash to spare! I have a tight budget so I spend the money on other essentials... waiting for the day I can finally splurge on a lightbox!!!

Welcome to the forum, Fay, from a fellow Singaporean. Aren't you lucky to be able to get hold of supplies so easily in NY. Remember to hoard them while you're there coz there isn't much here.

I have just followed you on Instagram, Sue, your calligraphy is amazing! I wouldn't mind bringing back some supplies for you when I am back end June if it's not much, you can let me know

Hi guys!

I'm Fay, I'm 22 and interning in NYC until the end of June so I've been spending my nights practising calligraphy - I guess you could say I have no social life, but I'd say practising calligraphy beats a night's out...  I only just started this year, and I've gone through Joseph M. Vitolo's free pdf on copperplate calligraphy but now I'm watching Ellen's pointed pen nirvana videos and they're great. It's awesome to be able to get calligraphy supplies so easily here in the U.S too.

This place seems really friendly and it's practically bursting with tips and so much great help, I really hope to improve with more practise - I want to be able to do wedding invitations for my friends!
