Greetings from Singapore!

I found this community by accident and I am glad! I am just starting out with this and would certainly be poring over every resource and tips provided here.
I own now 2 Kaweco sports, 1 dip pen (brause 66 extra fine), 1 pilot parallel, 1 bottle of Parker Quink black ink and 1 Rhodia writing pad - a humble collection.

Re brause 66 extra fine, I find the upstrokes rough. Is it a user problem, ink, paper or nib problem? I have watched videos of people doing well with brause 66ef. If the problem is with the nib, then I am happy to buy something else to try as I plan to also invest in an oblique pen holder.

I am now contemplating brush pens. I tested Pentel brush pens last Sat in a bookshop - its hairs have already strayed from the abuse it received from multiple testers. Are strayed hairs evitable with proper care and use?

There are a lot of peeps who love that nib. You just need to find that perfect paper + nib + ink combo. I use it with Dr. PH Martin's iridescent inks and rhodia pads. Good luck!

I like the 66ef - works well for me using metallic inks - finding the right paper is important too.

The Nikko G nib is also a good one to start with.

It seems as though you have a pretty flexible hand. You could try a zebra G nib, it's slightly more flexible than the standard Nikko G. Or if you're more flexible than that, you could try the Gillott 303 or 404. The latter two are pretty flexible so you would want to use it on smoother paper, like the Rhodia pads. Hope that helps! I love the Brause 66EF! Have you tried using a different ink?

I recently acquired a bunch of nibs and I can send you some for you to try out if you send me your address.

As for brush pens, I have a couple which I bought from Muji and Kino. I still lack the control needed to use them properly but I did get a Copic Multiliner Brush-M from ArtFriend which suits me better.

I like the 66EF too, works well with sumi and walnut ink for me. I usually practice on Rhodia pads or Muji dotted notebooks. You may also try Zebra G, which is great for practice. Right now, my favorite is the Blanzy 552 - ink and paper friendly. As for brush pens I recommend Pentel touch and Kuretake No 22.

@Sanbearz, so far I know there's Straits Art Co near Bras Basah, overjoyed.sg or at Sim Lim, and Art Friend.

Overjoyed seems a little pricey to me, and Straits Art should have a wider variety of nibs. Art Friend has Nikko Gs, and I guess the regular calligraphy kits...

I also came across a listing on Carousell for nibs and the cheap speedball oblique holders.

@fay what about ink and papers? Art friend is still the most convenient but their variety ain't that much. The last time I went they didn't sell obliques (or they ran out of stock)   :(That listing is just asking if people is interested and only open for purchase in July!
