Thought you might enjoy this recent find from the Antiques Roadshow

I recorded it off the TV so apologies for the less than perfect picture quality, stunning work though!

Yay for the spinsters!  More time for calligraphy (and illumination)!  I think I will start the Spinster Calligraphers Guild.

I don't normally watch the antiques roadshow but I happened to catch that episode - The illumination was absolutely stunning! I want one!

The surrounding borders are attractive and colourful, but.....the calligraphy is poor. It has been maintained that the revivalist calligraphy of the Victorians was produced  by writing the letters with a pointed nib and then filling in the heavier strokes, in an attempt to simulate the broad-pen writing of the 15th century scribes. The results were usually rather poor, as here.
