Flourished Thanks
« on: March 18, 2016, 01:41:54 PM »
I really wanted to share this with you guys, I'm so proud of myself!

I've been following Anne Elser on IG and love her style, so today, with several hours to spare I have been working on this...

It took ages ;D several drafts, sketches and pieces of paper! It's not perfect, but it is pretty and for my first time of trying anything like this I'm pleased with it!

Happy to take on any suggestions for improvement! Thanks for looking  :)

You should be pleased - it's really lovely! Since you asked for feedback, the only part that catches my eye is the flourish above the Y. It seems to be coming out of nowhere which isn't as cohesive as the rest of the design. This could be remedied by rotating it 180 degrees or by extending the flourish stem up and to the right.

Beautiful!  :)
Warm Regards,

Very nice!   BTW What sort of ink is this?

Let us know if you ever undertake multi-color flourishes.  Personally I use watercolors and even though I would never dare to share my sketches here, I can say that I get a major kick out of using multiple colors in a situation like this with a mix of text and flourishes  (as opposed to straight text where multiple colors disturbs the readability).

Thank you for your encouragement Eric! I am using gouache, I have actually mixed up some lovely colours and I am trying to work up the courage to put something down on paper  ;D
