I love this graphic and mini review of the nibs. As a beginner, I've only tried the Nikko G and the Blue Pumpkin. Now I am eager to try out the others and see how they work for me.

I've tried the 32 lbs HP Premium Choice Laser Jet Paper and I love it! It is very smooth, bright white and won't bleed or blot. Because I am a beginner, it helps to have sheets that I can run through the printer for practice.

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome.
I'm trying out modern calligraphy (and enjoying myself immensely). I've signed up for a class in pointed pen. Thinking about it now, I probably should have started with the class in pointed pen to get the fundamentals first.  I guess when you get started you really don't know what you don't know. On the bright side, it was my teacher in the modern calligraphy class that suggested checking out this wonderful forum!
