I would really like to go - I travel to attend nerdy doll collector conventions, so this would be just as fun. And it would be so amazing to meet you all in person!
Joy, your work is sublime. Don't laugh, but I would stare at your Tumblr pages to try to figure out how you did such & such lettering/flourishing. I adore your calligraphy! I don't think my work is good enough to be shared outside of my own personal comfort zone but I leave everything up because then I can see my mistakes and where I need to improve. I look at my Copperplate practice sheets from two years ago and know that I have improved (and also a long way to go)!
As for the second part of your question-- no one ever thinks they are good! LOL. I'm SUPER critical of my own stuff and FORCE myself to leave some photos and content up on my website, though within a week of posting anything I've usually decided it's hopelessly amateurish and needs to come down...I think you have more cause to worry about your skill if you're unreasonably confident and decide to ditch the study just to come up with your 'own personal style'... This (usually) doesn't work, as the aesthetics and foundations are clearly missing...
