Copying Madarasz's Washington piece..
« on: October 26, 2014, 09:39:44 AM »
For practice today, I decided to make a copy of the masters of the past. Who better than Maddy z the gangsta OP writer? It's on display easily at IAMPETH too.

It's done with an old Esterbrook 356 and walnut ink. I need to work on capitals more, but I'm hoping sharing my progress on the forum help me gain confidence in my weak areas, especially the angles and placement and loops of the capitals.

Maddy's original is too beautiful. Too beautiful. Even though I don't really know what the content of the text was referring to.

Awesome! And calling Madarasz (The God-hand) "Maddy" makes me smile. It sounds he's one of your buds 8)

Haha!  She'll be calling Lupfer "Loopy" next.  ;)

I'm very impressed Felecia, especially with the arm movement work.  You've clearly been working hard, and that's on top of a natural talent, I think.

No, Andy, he's Luppy! Yeah I totally called him that since last month :P And Zanie and Blosie (with a flower emoticon).. No disrespect intended, but it makes them personable and cute to me, so I feel less intimidated when trying to learn from them. I'm sure they were sufficiently manly, but .. I dunno. Luppy's so cute though :3

There's also Happy Behry (HP Behrensmeyer) and F.B Courtney's Fuzzberry Court..Platt Rogers Spencer I think I'll call him Platypus Spence.  ;D

I think you're onto something. The first time I did a copy of a master's work, it was during the 7th month, which in Chinese culture is our ghost month when all the ghosties can come back to earth for a meet and greet and to check up on what's up with the living etc.

I'm still forever grateful to your letter you sent Schin! <3 It showed me what 'thin lines' and good spacing and proper angles really meant. It means really thin. Lol. I still need to get to your level full arm movement and instinctive knowledge of what flourish looks good.

It's a funny story. I started pointed pen with Copperplate like everyone, then when I applied for the Summer card exchange, I suddenly was like 'sh*t. my copperplate sucks balls. i need to practice... I have no idea why by practice I picked up a new hand instead. Must be Schin tempting me with exceptional gorgeous stuff all over her tumblr again.
