A question about the hammermil color copy paper for practice
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:27:49 PM »
Hi guys....
I got the hammermmil color copy 28lb 100brightness, I hear that is what many calligraphers used to practice...I bought a ream... I like the paper, was drawing with sumi ink and using alcohol markers on it...it actually scans nicely... Defintelly cheaper than the canson layout pad....

But when I'm trying to use for calligraphy practice, it beads up a little...I am using a summi ink, Yasumoto, not the green bottle, and a Zebra nib and a Tachikawa nib... when I try to write, the ink dumps to fast on the paper and it beads up a little, so I cant square of the end of the letters...Should I dilute the ink, and maybe add some gum arabic?  Any tricks and tips?
