Whoa, thanks Flourish peeps. I'm still kind of in shock.
So if you're not friends with me on Facebook, here's the full disclosure. Alexandra (the writer) and I are acquaintances on social media through my husband's mid-century modern collectors group. She is a
wonderful writer, architectural critic, and overall champion of good design.
A few weeks ago, she contacted me for suggestions on notable IG calligraphers to chat with about calligraphy and instagram for an article she was working on. She has a very
popular blog so I figured that's where the article was going to be published. I sent her IG links to Mr. John Stevens, Gail, Heather Held, Faust New York, and a few others, so she can see a wide range and representation of calligraphy styles, from students to masters and in-between. Last week, she emailed me some questions to answer - I was really surprised and flattered that she asked, so I shared my thoughts. I had no idea if she was going to use any of it.
I was waiting for her to share a link to her blog - and this morning, instead of the blog, it was actually an article for The New Yorker. Needless to say I'm more surprised than you are. "Linda who?" Seriously.
Thanks for the kind words of support - this just goes to show the power of new technology such as social media, that even random connections can turn into something meaningful.
