Such a find! But also a little sad that something so beautiful was worth so little. At least it is in the hands of someone who will appreciate it!
I'm sure it was from an estate. I'm at an age where we're seeing more and more older relatives pass away, and we've had to help dispose of several estates in recent years. It's amazing how quickly and cheaply so many things are disposed of because those inheriting them just have no idea of what it is, or its value.
My wife and I were married for a while before we had our son and did a fair amount of travel and shopping.

We try to find ways to let our son know about all of the cool stuff we have and where it came from. But, in the end, as long as it's not thrown away outright, I'm sure that it all, just as Brad's new calligraphy shows, will eventually find a home with someone who appreciates it. So, even if the child or grandchild who gave that away to Goodwill didn't really appreciate it (and probably had no idea that it was hand-drawn rather than just printed), it has eventually been found and will be greatly appreciated, I'm sure, in its new home.
