Hello all

My name is Brad. I have always loved pens. When i was a kid my brother had a calligraphy set. I ended up taking it and playing with it. I think it was a Ken Brown set. 30 years later i have picked it up again and started square and pointed pen calligraphy. Hope to learn from all you wonderful scribers.

Lol...I seem to remember those Ken Brown sets!  Great you were so inspired and have come back to calligraphy!

Hi Brad!

We got our start in calligraphy the same way! Ken Brown and Margaret Shepherd were the only names I knew of in calligraphy for many years.

Are you taking any classes or learning on your own? Stefanie just mentioned a good book which covers both Italic (broad edge) and Copperplate (pointed pen) called, "Italic & Copperplate Calligraphy" by Eleanor Winters.

Hi, i am learning on my own. With books of corse! I have seen a sample of the book that is mentioned. I am a better "learner" by watching more so than reading. So well see.

Hi, Brad! I took some classes just about a year ago now and have found they give a good primer but practice and personal study with books/YouTube videos makes a huge difference!

Can't wait to see you progress  ;D
