Hi all, I'm Jaz, a lawyer/artist/bookworm (not necessarily in that order) from Manila. :)

I first learned broad dip pen calligraphy as an elective in highschool. I however stopped because the tools were so expensive and/or hard to find back then. As a cheapskate artsy person, I moved to origami, then papercraft.

Pointed pen calligraphy is getting new buzz in my country so the tools have become more accessible and prices reasonable so I decided to renew my love for this art and try my hand at copperplate. :)

This forum is so awesome! One of the best tips I've learned so far is to not exert pressure on the pen for hairline strokes, my hairlines are now looking awesome!

Welcome Jaz! I am actually pretty jealous that calligraphy is a course in high school in the Philippines. That's so cool!

Thank you! :) It was only for about three months but it was enough to get me hooked for awhile. ;) But no need to be jealous, the lessons here are way better! (i remember before our teacher just gave us some exemplars and told us, you have two months, COPY. That was about it, LOL.)

Haha, I only say I was jealous because I would have liked to be introduced to calligraphy back then.

You are right though, the lessons here ARE way better!

Sorry for the late reply! Who else is from the metro manila area?  Do we have a guild here in ff for us? :) really think we should have one :)

Cool! Hope we had the same elective in my highschool.
