Calligraphy - playing with blending ink
« on: February 27, 2017, 04:26:19 PM »
I have been working on my blending practice with the Parallel pens (specifically the 6mm) and getting the timing right on feeding one pen (Diamine Blaze Orange) with a second in a darker color (Montblanc Poppy Red). This is just a little practice test from over the weekend that I finished off with some Copic markers to help the colors pop a little better. Still some work to do but happy with the overall direction so far.

Nicely done. Looks really good. The grey colours with copic markers is very smart. :D

Thanks! I think the trick was getting colors far enough apart that I could see the difference and getting the timing down for how long to cross-feed the pens.

Nice! I have been playing around with a set of Parallel pens, too. It does take some practice but I love the look of the blended inks. That 6mm is bigger than I'm used to working with!

Yea the 6mm tends to run a little on the dry side with some inks but almost too wet on the 1.5mm and 2.4mm nibs. I have had the best luck blending with the 3.8 (and the 6mm if I stay with well lubricated inks).
