I know.
It’s all very messy and amateurish.
That’s what my wife tells me whenever I clean the house.
In fact, that’s how I look most days.

It all comes with not really caring that much for the opinions of others. And that is part of the ageing process for men.

Nice, Tom. The thing about starting is that we all have to start from where we are, not where we want to be!  You have started and your hand is learning to flow in ways it hasn’t needed to before. Italic is my main hand and I can see it clearly coming out through your writing too. I like the poem too.

Beautiful Tom! It’s all about the energy and yours has a lot of finesse. Beautiful words as well and the painting!

There is a fine line between amateurish and style. There are many modern calligraphers who have made a good living with a “messy” style, too. Embrace it! Work has powerful energy when it is not done for the appeasement of others.
