Ink store, Paper pad store in CANADA
« on: March 05, 2015, 03:47:39 PM »
Hey guys!!!
Last week, I was on a mission to find Canadian on-line store for calligraphy materials and it was successful!!!

Delta Art Supply, based on Edmonton, Alberta: http://deltaart.ca/
They have Finetec, Dr. Ph Martin's, Pearl-ex, etc.. The prices are a bit more than PIA, but they often have good sales. All the Finetec and Dr. Martin's are currently on-sale now. When you sign-up, there will be a 2-hour lag before your account can be registered and so after 2-hours, you can place your order.

Curry's Art Supplies in Toronto: https://www.currys.com/

Rhodia Pads and other brand: https://www.quovadiscanada.com/en/our-collections

I love Paper & inks arts, but shipping can be expensive and the custom duty fees.
 ;)

I was just browsing the internet, as one does, and came across the following stationery store:

Wonderpens
906 Dundas Street West, Toronto

They claim to have calligraphy supplies.

Thank you for posting this! And I've been to Wonder Pens as it's only a 10 minute walk from work. It is a great store from a fountain pen perspective. No nibs or holders, but they do have Pilot's paralell pens and Lamy pens, rhodia pads, Field notes books, some nice japanese paper and envelopes that I treat myself to on occasion. :) Not a lot from a calligraphy perspective. They carry a bunch of fountain pen inks (e.g., Noodler's). I haven't tried any yet. All that said, it is a great store to browse through. :)

Their website has a small selection of dip nibs and calligraphy inks.  Perhaps they keep them in a back room so as not to intimidate the fountain pen users...   :)

So far I haven't found a very good selection of nibs in Canada. Everyone seems to only carry spedball and manuscript.

Curry's seems to carry the same sort of line up as DeSerres in Ottawa. DeSerres does carry a few Hunt nibs. Of the nibs that I have seen recomended in this forum, I was only able to find a Hunt 56. I couldn't find Walnut ink or chrystals anywhere, they actually looked at me like I had two heads when I asked.

I will probably order from the US as soon as funds allow.

I think the Toronto-ians need to organize and each go into WonderPen asking for nibs etc.  Maybe they will put in a supply of the most popular.

I agree! The funny thing is...when I first went in I saw a sign about someone there teaching calligraphy, which prompted me to ask if they sold nibs. The girl working at the time (she wasn't the most polite) told me no. :(

And Darrin, just wanted to let you know...I'm mailing you some nibs today! :)

Nicalligraphy- Thank you! :) Delta Art Supply looks promising!

I purchased Pilot parallel pens from wonderpens... but yes, they seem to have a bigger variety for fountain pens. Next time I'm in there, I will definitely ask about nibs!

I put a list of things I found in Toronto on this thread, if it helps: http://theflourishforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=1858.msg36708#msg36708

Wonderpens are bringing back calligraphy workshops and with that, they're planning on carrying nibs (rumour has it, some Brause Rose) but not for another month or so.

I have yet to come across a well-stocked nib store in Toronto. I've mostly been ordering my things. I came across this site a few weeks ago when I was looking for Walnut Ink: http://www.europeanpapers.com/
Shipping was quite reasonable for 3 bottles.
