Title: Calligrapher's pickup lines
Post by: schin on March 30, 2015, 02:08:03 PM
Dear distinguished sophisticated scholars of the art of writing, ladies and gentlemen....

Is that a quill in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

What a fine set of... inkwells you have!

It's not the size of the penholder that matters, it's how you use it!

Quick more saucy pick up lines before Erica wakes up and bans us all

"May I buy you a bottle of... McCaffery's?"

"Dang girl, you've got better curves than my Ornamental Penmanship!"

"Let's go back to my pad and I'll show you my dip pen collection."

"You are more intoxicating than a fresh bottle of Moon Palace Sumi!"

"Hello, gorgeous!  Let me write your name on my heart!"  (While drawing a heart on your little cocktail napkin!)

"You're so hot, you're making my ink boil."

I guess we all could imagine lots of uses for "dinky dips" in these pickup lines, but I won't go there.  Don't want to be banned from FF!!

Care to come up to my place for a little desert--a little Gillott-o perhaps?

You're just what the doctor prescribed for me--Dr. Martin, that is.

You and I, baby, could really flourish together.

Come over to my petting zoo sometime. You'll love the Zebras.

The Pearlescence in your eyes outshines the moon and stars.

Hey, cute shoes, honey. Sharper than a Gillott 170.

Hey Dexter, let's seal the deal.

Like fast cars? How 'bout a ride in my Madaraszi?

Can't go to Franklin this summer? Iampethize with you.

(somebody stop me, I've gotta get some work done.)

Do you suppose Esther Williams learned to swim in an Esterbrook?

You all are killin' me here --- I'm laughing out loud and my wife wanted to know why - so I read one to her, and explained it of course.  She said I could keep the rest to myself.   :P

I went out on Friday with my hubby and wanted to pay for dinner and he said, " no honey, let me get it, I'd rather you spent the money on your calligraphy" and I was all, babe I love it when you talk dirty like that!

Even "middle-aged mature men" can get turned on by calligraphy pick-ups...these lines seriously drive my husband WILD. Trust me, ladies.  ;D

Honey, your hairline is so fine, not even receding....and about your grays?  Shh shh dear, don't you know grey is the new black? (NOTE: even though I fully intend to do a wash of custom colored ink at no upcharge *if* the need ever arises...) And your lush swells...sweetheart my homestyle cooking looks good on you...go on, there's no shame in loosening that belt another notch...and you more than make up for it with your compound curves...do you work out?

And then you both fall asleep watching reruns on the couch.

In this case, here's a little contribution to this topic :
"La danse de ta plume chatouille mes sens" (The danse of your nib (feather) tickles my senses )

and some very classic french pick-up lines adapted :
"Vous écrivez toujours chez vos parents ?" (do you still write at your parent's ? should be do you still live at your parent's)
"T'as de belles courbes, tu sais" (you've got beautiful curves, you know. Should be you've got beautiful eyes)
" J’aime deux choses : toi et la (Brause) rose. La rose pour un jour et toi pour toujours" (I love 2 things : you and the (Brause) Rose. The rose for today and you forever...)

And a last one :

"You must have fallen from the Universal Penman"

I saw the title of this thread and was all "we should have a calligraphy puns thread!!!!!"… then I read it and realised it had degenerated (and by degenerated I mean improved of course :P) into a pun thread anyway.

So I just thought I'd take a break from roman the threads to dip in and say I can't believe you guys had the gall to do this, these jokes are oval*! Offhand, I should think I'd be filled with gilt if I'd made such terrible puns as these.

This thread is just wonderful --- so x-ZILLER-ating!

Don't you enjoy going to JNB or PIA websites to Brause and Hunt around for nibs?

My friend, Claire, who lives in Tripoli, is my Hiro because she has done so much for her hometown. They are naming a new landmark after her - the "Claire-fontaine".  Oh my gouache, isn't that great?!  One of her accomplishments was creating very small pens for those with small hands...she managed  the de-Vellum-ment of this Pilot program's product (sold two in a package) -  they named it: "Parr-a-lel Pens".

Did you know that calligraphers do it on the kitchen table?

This could be a whole sub-genre of this thread.

Calligraphers do it with back-lighting.
Calligraphers do it with flourish (can't claim that one)
Real calligraphers flourish the swells and then seal the deal

Thanks to Prasad for collecting this as one of his favorite threads worthy of being resurrected!

And every time I see something on this thread that mentions "flourish" I remember visiting a historical house many years ago where the 18th-century master of the house kept a very detailed diary, including when and where (!) he would "flourish" his wife just about every day. His diaries literally had entries such as "Flourished the wife on the kitchen table this morning"  They had a large number of kids and remained (apparently) happily married for many years.
