It's beautiful!!! Have fun practicing for the calligraphy jobs!
I have a Chic Oblique and am very happy with it. It is beautifully balanced and a joy to hold and use. You will get a lot of pleasure from it and they are works of art as well, gorgeous to look at.
If ever there was a case of nice instruments being in the wrong hands, this is it.
Congrats!!!
I’ve been so out of the calligraphy game for about two years that I didn’t know these. I took a peek and they’re absolutely gorgeous!!!
I’m really looking forward to practising much more this year. If I’m a good girl and stick with it, I might gift myself a new pen holder at the end of the year
@lyric I used Eleanor Winter's book on Copperplate, as if it were a text book. I started in the beginning & worked my way to the end. I learned Copperplate from it. I highly recommend the book! You can get it from Amazon or eBay!
Best of luck to you on your journey!
Janis
I forgot about my Cursive Club blog -- so the next set of videos are at that blog.
I'll rethink how the penmanship tips are posted when I get back my studio in a couple weeks --
and regroup.
But - these videos might give a better idea of how to establish a rhythm.

Oh dear -- trying the new exercise with those slant lines --would make me dizzy, too.
I hope you stopped --
Wait until your notebook paper arrives.
Or if you have graph paper -- try the upright - zig zag on graph paper.
More later --
The new exemplar is on the blog.
There is also a round version - that Hester is going to try.
These will be a quick check to decide what direction to go.
They are not intended for long term study.
The goal is to find a style you enjoy that will help to correct the bad habits that we all develop over the years
if we just let our penmanship evolve on its own.
