Tools & Supplies / Pergamenata
« on: November 24, 2015, 12:03:38 PM »
Interested in what folks think about the Pergamenata paper. Suggestions for working on it and tools that work the best.
20 years ago I really liked using this paper. Especially when folks wanted that 'parchment' look.
This summer I was asked to do a very large piece 26" x 39". Pergamenata is the only paper I could find with these larger dimensions. I thought the job would go great since I remembered liking this paper. BUT oh my gosh - not enjoying it this time around. I have played with inks and various nibs. I have rubbed the whole sheet with pounce to make the surface smoother, but still have some tooth. I find the nib slips along as it wants, especially if there a slight bump. I settled on using Sumi Ink and a Hiro 41 Crown.  I have resigned myself to not liking the finished project. Luckily, whatever I do will be an upgrade from the volunteer who did the same project the previous years.
Thanks for any feedback you can share!
