It's beautiful!!! Have fun practicing for the calligraphy jobs!

Hello Kacy,

Nooooo, I am keeping calligraphy strictly fun, no stress.  There will be no "jobs" happening here.   :-* :D

I have a Chic Oblique and am very happy with it. It is beautifully balanced and a joy to hold and use  :D. You will get a lot of pleasure from it and they are works of art as well, gorgeous to look at.

As it will most likely be my last holder purchase this is so good to know.  Thanks, Mr. Davies.  :D ;D

It reached the US last week.  Yay!!!!!

If ever there was a case of nice instruments being in the wrong hands, this is it.

$$$ signs were rolling in my head as I viewed each one.  Then to see you barely use them!  WOW!!!  It has taken me about a year to get funds to purchase ONE Curve-E.  I really wanted a short one.  Maybe that is the proper name as you say above "travel"; I never knew.  Alas, most pens at his site are "sold" and it has been that way the year (almost) that I have been watching.  Well, at least I will have one.  If things go like I hope I will not need another pen between that ONE and the ones I already have.

Thanks for sharing your motherload.  It is nice.

But Keysa,

What about, how about if you GO 'HEAD and get your CO pen NOW and that will further encourage you to practice?   ;D ;D ;D

Iíve been so out of the calligraphy game for about two years that I didnít know these. I took a peek and theyíre absolutely gorgeous!!!

Iím really looking forward to practising much more this year. If Iím a good girl and stick with it, I might gift myself a new pen holder at the end of the year  :P

I am SO excited to have F I N A L L Y ordered my own Chic Oblique Curve-E pen holder.  Needless to say I learned of it here last year.  And FINALLY, finally, did I write "Finally" I have ordered one for MOI.

Is it possible that Mr. Curran is slowing down creating these beautiful pens?  Many are out of stock.  My heart's desire was a short one OR one of the beautiful colorful ones that I have seen.  Frankly I picked from what was left available.  At least I get to explore the flattened feature that he and Ms. Erica came up with.  I decided to focus on that vs. prettiness.

Will no doubt be my last pen purchase for years as effective a couple of days I will be unemployed.  Hey, more time to practice my BP and Copperplate.   :D ;) ;D

Saw a link today from my TPK feed.  Excited about this issue and there is a discount.  Now, I can finally afford a copy.  Woooo  whoooo!

@lyric  I used Eleanor Winter's book on Copperplate, as if it were a text book.  I started in the beginning & worked my way to the end.  I learned Copperplate from it.  I highly recommend the book!  You can get it from Amazon or eBay!

Best of luck to you on your journey!

Thanks Janis!!

This thread though is talking about business penmanship or American cursive; i.e., everyday handwriting versus the drawing of calligraphy.

I did purchase Mrs. Winter's book last spring too (when I first began learning Copperplate).   ;)

I forgot about my Cursive Club blog -- so the next set of videos are at that blog.
I'll rethink how the penmanship tips are posted when I get back my studio in a couple weeks --
and regroup.

But - these videos might give a better idea of how to establish a rhythm.

Where shall I upload practice that you may want to see going forward?

Thanks, Jean.

Practice on Rhodia pad.  ??? :o

Oh dear -- trying the new exercise with those slant lines --would make me dizzy, too.
I hope you stopped --
Wait until your notebook paper arrives.
Or if you have graph paper -- try the upright - zig zag on graph paper.

More later --

I did stop . . . finally!  Will try again on my Rhodia paper.  Will be days before my 5-Star arrives.  Don't want to lose that practice time.

Thank you.

I am really struggling with this.  I'm trying to mentally make the connection between writing like this and example that I shared above. 🤷🏾

The new exemplar is on the blog.
There is also a round version - that Hester is going to try.

These will be a quick check to decide what direction to go.
They are not intended for long term study.

The goal is to find a style you enjoy that will help to correct the bad habits that we all develop over the years
if we just let our penmanship evolve on its own.

Ok., got it, printed for practice this afternoon.

Will writing what I see in the video help me get closer to THIS!!!! Yeeees, lordie!!!!

Word Group 1 Practice

I do NOT know why "some" of my photo attachments are turned.  It is not like that on my device 🤷🏾?
