Muscular movement: Are you Gellin
« on: May 30, 2018, 01:58:18 PM »
Everyone's muscle is a bit different.  Have anyone used a mouse Gel pad to aid in their muscular movement?

I found that it helped me to adopt to a more formal writing position.

Here I use a small wrist gel pad (for the mouse) to elevate and isolate the point of movement.  Placed at the muscle pad, more towards the elbow joint.

Here is the view from the pen point.

That's just my middle finger used for the photo shot...it doesn't touch the table when writing...only the fourth's and fifth's nails glides on the table.

I've never done this but I'm curious why elevating and isolating the point of movement is important  ???

Excellent point...

Isolating the point of movement...also limits the movements...so don't expect to any flourishing.  Repeatability...for many, like myself, rehabitation is difficult.  So isolation for repeatability.  Hence, in leur of consistent results..

Elevation...not everyone will wear a long sleeve and jacket when we write as it is instructed in the manuals.  Elevation helped my sweaty muscle pads from sticking on the table, and elevates the entire forearm so that my lazy hands will find some closure to a more formal writing position as instructed in the manuals...ie gliding with only the fouth and fifth finger nails.

This formal writing position is adopted for both broad edge and pointed pens.

For the gifted and most talented, this is not necessary.

So you would take the gel pad off if you want to add flourishing? I guess my point is if the tool for technique practice limits an aspect of writing (flourishing in this case) maybe there's a better way. Then again maybe you don't care for flourishing. In that case disregard this  ;D

I don't care that much for the instructions in the manuals myself but if they help you get the results you want more power to you. I'm sure they knew what they were talking about!
