They were in a class of their own; the ultimate Writing Masters.
I'm on my third copy of The Universal Penman. My first two copies of this wonderful book, fell apart with use  ;D

@Ken Fraser I also have one paperback copy for use, and another from the 60s, a beautiful hardcover that I only use when I need to see more details (it's a bit bigger reproduction than the A4 one ;)).

I also love the Dutch writing masters, and the earlier English ones Shelley for example has sublime exemplars for all who don't know it already, @sybillevz has a wonderful website with tons of information and links to most important copybooks from the 16th to the 20th century https://pennavolans.com/

Thanks for the link.

I'm a big admirer of George Shelley. A different, earlier very beautiful style.

A couple of years ago (on 4th June 2017) I posted an example of my take on his writing, here in the Copperplate category. I would post a link, but I don't know how to.
(  It's titled "In the style of George Shelley".

If you are interested, a search under "Shelley" finds it.

Of all the wonderful examples of calligraphy I've enjoyed over the years, my favourite is the page titled "Honour" by Willington Clark in the Universal Penman. (exemplary penmanship superbly engraved By Bickham.)

Perhaps the best so far. But there is a long future ahead. Genius knows no bounds.

Let me know if your third copy is in danger of wearing out. I have more copies than I can wear out in two lifetimes, and one will be on your doorstep.

Thank you very much for your generous offer , but I actually have an extra copy which remains unopened as a back-up. :)

I would have mentioned it, but it seems like obsessional overkill. :o
