Big welcome from Toronto!

Hi Christina! Calligraphy is very relaxing! I've since started using the term "Calligratherapy" when a few friends and I get together to practice. :)
Hope you enjoy the forum!

Open Flourish | General Discussion / Re: gum arabic - brand preference?

Hi Jana! I often use powder gum arabic to mix with PearlEx and gouache; I feel like it ends up lasting longer. Initially, I was using the Jacquard brand but have since switched to Kama Pigment's house brand as it was less expensive and I can buy larger amounts. http://www.kamapigment.com/store/index.asp?lang=1&catpage=2401

Hope this helps!

Start with research first! It took me awhile to actually properly begin; I wish I started learning the classic fundamentals sooner. I also wish I knew about Walnut Ink much, much earlier. It would have saved me a lot of money and frustration.

Here's a page from my notebook at work; most of the pages typically look like this with illustrations inserted every now and then.  :)

Ooh yay! Fellow Torontonian. I haven't been to the Paper Place in awhile. I'm near Markham so it's a bit of a journey for me. Sendmoremail looks like what I'm looking for, Star. Thank you! You're a... Star!  ;D
