First non practice piece
« on: February 06, 2016, 01:52:24 AM »
Not sure about this one. Too early, quality too low yet? Only been married for 23 years, one has to be careful. I can wait for another year and hopefully be better, but then there is the whole selfmade present thing....there are a few other pieces to go with it but I doubt I will get much better in a week.

PS: I know there is supposed to be an 's at the end (forgot in all the excitement), I will re-write it but it wont improve much I think.

"If only those birds sang loudest that sang best ..." etc.  If I was your wife I'd be unreservedly thrilled by a gift that so much time and care has gone into.  Live in the now ... give it to her :D

Thanks for the kind words.

Here is the second piece based on instructions (just not as nice) from Lindsey at "The Postman's Knock" https://thepostmansknock.com/calligraphy-ampersand-art-tutorial/

I hope it is ok to post that here.

Right now still on copy paper with a few areas to be fixed before I write it on the real paper, one week to go.

Lovely, I like the ampersand in particular and the way you realized it.  Good stuff!

Those are beautiful pieces and I'm sure your wife loved them.  I saw the tutorial for the & on The Postman's Knock, and I like how you added your names to the piece which is different from the TPK tutorial and really adds something that felt missing on the TPK version (but maybe that's because I'm baffled by the current obsession with ampersands and don't see the point in making one unless you use it as an "and").
