Dear all,
A big hello from India. I am Prasad, and after a hiatus of almost 30 years, I started using fountain pens again. I had fiddled around with some italic writing ages ago.
One of the pens I found was an old parker with a 14k gold nib. Washed it and inked it up and I found it had a semi flexible nib and I was able to get a little live variation while writing.
I did a little reading about calligraphy and landed on the IMAPETH website and roundhand blew me away. Sadly, it is rather difficult to buy pointed nibs in India. Shipping from the US costs 50 times that of the price of a nib.
Luckily had a friend coming in from the US and I got him to carry a few nibs and holders for me.
I have started using the nibs about 2 months ago. (Self taught thanks to you tube and IMAPETH) I am trying to control costs by using normal paper and trying out fountain pen inks. They don't work too well with normal nibs and holders.
I have got a pen manufacturer in India to slightly modify their pens with feeds to accept G nibs and Gillot 303 nibs.
This forum is going to be a great help for me to improve and learn proper writing
Once I have a little confidence in myself and my writing, I shall put up some samples and would highly appreciate any and all forms of criticism and help.
Looking forward to contribute more here.
Prasad
