Thank you, Janis (and Melanie---didn't say it before)! I'm still very nervous about my client work — very critical (which in many ways is a good thing, but stressful!) so really appreciate your kind feedback.

Hi Melanie
I went with Artiste metallic acrylic (classic gold) craft paint diluted with water and then varnished with Vallejo Acrylic Gloss spray varnish.

Also tried the acrylic out on black paper (Frisk 135g black pad) while I had it. You can see the vid on Instagram.

Cheers
Kate

Great!  I'm glad that acrylic worked out for you.  I've used quite a few of the colours and found them pretty good, when watered down, for calligraphy, and super cheap too!  I'd definitely recommend any UK based calligraphers to give them a try.

And I understand the nerves when doing things for clients, but I really wouldn't worry about these - they're lovely!

They look great!  What acrylic did you use in the end?

Mel, I just realised it was you who recommended the Artiste paint to me. Thank you -- I wouldn't have even known where to start so must give a massive shout out to you!
