Hello community, I'm a calligraphic begginner and I'm starting to learn with pointed pen since a couple weeks. But I've got a problem.

I've been using an Speedball's Hunt ex-fine 512 and I just can't get the lines done. I think it's because of the nib, but maybe it's because I apply too much pressure. What do you think?
In any case, what kind of nib would you reccommend me?

I really want to keep practicing, but in a proper way. Besides, I got another cuestion about the holder:
Can I get a holder with the oblique metallic in two pieces or they are just made in one? I mean, buying the ''copperplate'' piece for the holder, is it possible?

Thanks.

Dude, my mother has the same opinion and yeah, it kinda hurts.
But, this kind of things, this details in life are what truly make it worthy.
Details like art, like love and maybe just a little smile from someone.
Calligraphy is not just writing, calligraphy is about feelings, about beauty in words, about the beauty that you have writen in your soul and your mind.
We have to keep it up if we want to become good, no matter what the others say. It's just as hard as every other thing in life, but some people just can't see the effort and the dedication that it requires.

Remember to practice, that is quite the key for getting good at anything.
And try not to be sad, I know it is hard when it comes from someone you love but, well, you have to build your own world. They choosed not to build theirs with calligraphy (in this case) but you did, and that's what matters. What you love to do.

Introductions / Greetings from México!
« on: April 26, 2014, 12:40:41 PM »
Greetings!

My name is Jonathan Albarran and I'm a 18 year old young man, I'm Mexican and I'm an Hispanic Letters student.
I've been in love with calligraphy since a year ago, when my brother introduced me to it, but it has been only like two months ago that I got some equipement to practice. Since then, it's been a non-stop day by day practice.

I'd like to be a great calligrapher such as (the obvious) MacPhee teacher, and some other artists out there, like Luca Barcellona.

I'm sure I'll find tons of great people in this forum, I'm a bit shy but well, I guess it's gonna be a great experience.

We'll be in touch!

P.S: My instagram is @lvcifvgo, just if somebody would like to see some stuff I've made and to share other things.
