Introductions / Hello from Doha, Qatar!

Hi!
I'm Shiela May Ramirez-Sison. I'm a native of Manila, Philippines but currently residing and working here in Doha, Qatar. This has been my home for almost 7 years but there's not so much of homesickness because I'm with my childhood love-turned-architect husband and my 3-year old daughter I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and I have been practicing that for the past 10 years, right after graduation and passing the board exam in the Philippines.
I know you might somehow ask where did my love for calligraphy and anything hand-lettered root from. Well, to tell you honestly, that is my first love, my first passion, my first hobby, my first artsy fartsy. It was at the age of 3 that I clearly remember getting hold of anything used for writing, doodling and drawing. I actually came from a family of artists and musicians so I think it wasn't that hard for me to tap that creative side of me. Eversince then, I've drawn and doodled anything. The best part of growing up was when I used to make bookmarks and anything hand-lettered and personalized for my friends and classmates. The happiness was so much overflowing that it made me go back to it just recently, after a 10-year hiatus.
I've even set up a public Instagram account for me to track the progress I am making from the time I started "again" up until now. Well, it's just barely a month since I started but I must say that this is more fulfilling than my usual day job in the office as an Interior Designer. I feel that creating lettering designs, watercolor pieces and anything personalized makes me more of an artist as I am able to touch and relate "personally and individually" with the person I am making my masterpiece for.
Now that I'm very lucky enough to have discovered this wonderful community of calligraphy and lettering enthusiasts, professionals, newbies, I am very much looking forward to learn from everyone and share as well the things I have been doing.
Thanks Erica, thanks everybody! Hope to be able to get in touch with you all somehow, somewhere at some time
Lots,
Shiela
