Online or correspondence courses for chancery cursive?
« on: December 19, 2015, 04:58:51 PM »
There seem to be a number of options for pointed pen online learning but I am not finding much for broad edge. I am looking to improve my rusty chancery cursive style but can only find a few online tutorials. There are things I can learn easily from books and tutorials but artwork isn't one: I need direction, motivation and feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You will find some excellent (and free) lessons in broad-edged styles at the Wet Canvas Calligraphy sub-forum.

The lessons are  by Australian Calligrapher Geoff Ford (I teach them now but Geoff keeps an eye on things). Here is an example of his work:

Thank you, Salman. Geoff's work is certainly gorgeous! I wouldn't have realized that those tutorials were still alive. Thanks for pointing them out.

Salman,
Is there an index to the lessons on Wetcanvas?  They seem to be scattered in long threads.

Ellen, unfortunately there isn't an index. I think Geoff's idea was to have people start with the Roman capitals and follow along but it became kind of mixed up.

I will make an index and get the moderator to pin it so it is easy for people to find lessons. I am also in the process of preparing Copperplate lessons with Geoff's permission. I will post a link to the index as soon as I get it done.

ps. Here is the link to the index: Calligraphy Tutorials Index
