Broad Edge Pen Calligraphy / Re: I have been away for a little bit
« on: February 19, 2016, 08:40:01 AM »
@Inkysloth,
Thank you for the lovely words and support. It took a little bit to get them figured out. I am still borrowing parts from many sources then adjusting. Theres not very many styles in my opinion so its relatively easy to google search. Once the premise is figured out there is not much to it. Let me know if you need and direction in where to search or any help, im no pro but i am glad to help any way possible. Instruction is limited so dissecting old images is what works best.
Thank you again!😊

@NikkiB thank very much for kind comment i really appreciate it.

Hello all,
Got some new nibs today( thank you so very much Michael @johnnealbooksellers. The practice here is with a blue pumpkin on clearview vellum, winsor & newton gouache, and yes thie is coming out of my mouth, an oblique holder, imagine that me with an oblique holder. Lol. Its the speedball plastic contour that i converted. Decided new nibs so new start. Did a refresher of first couple leeson pages and going to do drills for a while to get back into it. I actually enjoyed tonight and i really like the blue pumpkin, a touch sharp but that wont last long. Thanks for looking,
Noah

« on: December 11, 2015, 08:03:26 PM »
Hello everyone!
What a great afternoon this turned out to be.
First i receieved my nibs form John Neal Bookseller which i am so excited to start getting back into my copperplate and second,
I received a spectacular pen pal letter with the coolest writting on the front of my envelope. Kim C what a wonderful treat to receive such a gorgeous envelope and a lovely letter inside. I am working on finishing the other pen pals and then will reply. Thank you so very much to Kim amd everyone else, i am so new to both calligraphy as well as corresponding with friends like this, it has made the end of the year finish better than any other i can imagine, truly these last few months have made my year.
Talk to everyone soon.

Sheila,
I have been having issues as well with iphone images. For the size you can get an app to reduce size, but what i find easier is to mail it back to my self and it always asks what size the just lower it there.
I also have an issue where is says i cant upload file begause its a jepg and not jpg. So i use an app called jpeg to png, that way it will be proper format and size.
Hope this helps,
Noah

Prasad,
You are always so generous with me and i am very grateful for them as well as having you as a new friend and part of this community. Id like to add a couple more pictures here for you as well as for Sean's curiosity. I was able to attach a D20 but the sides are not truly flat so standing is not working and it is surprisingly heavy. So its just pressed on not glued. Thanks again,
Noah

That is such a cool gift you are an awesome aunt for sure! Here is link to John Neal Books for some quills. Im not sure on the trimming them, but Micheal from John Neal books is on FF here im sure he could give you a better idea of where or how to trim.
Good luck and have fun!

Gary,
Awesome research on these!! Its odd that the 316 are a little less in price than the 302. The 316 is rated to withstand higher temps and higher corrosion resistance due to the molybdenum content in it. Either would work but i would probably go with 316 due to some inks being potenially corrosive. Thanks for researching and posting.

Michael,
I would probably be interested if you did. Id rather shop through a reputable shop like yours than taking the ebay risk.
Also im so excited you have the hiro in stock. I cant wait to get them, my order still showing processing you guys must be swamped from the sale. Also that link goes to a page with tins and not nibs. Thank you again,
Noah

Wow!! I didnt even think about shipping costs. That is ridiculous cost to ship. I doubt the tattoo shop wiuld be any help but always work a try. That sounds like somthing i would d, thinking it was a calligraphy store. Haha.
Thanks for reply and checking cost.
