Copperplate Handwriting
« on: March 19, 2014, 06:48:57 AM »
I am one of those who believe that the engraved lettering in "The Universal Penman" by George Bickham was the epitome of the style and has never been bettered. The copper-engraved English Roundhand can be replicated very successfully in the drawn style known as Engravers' Script.

However, there is a handwritten version which, with a few minor modifications, also comes very close to the original, engraved script. I've been banging on for years that "Copperplate" can be a viable, handwritten style, and I was delighted to find the very fluent, exemplary displays by Erica McPhee in the "Pointed Pen Nirvana" category. I'm sure that these accomplished displays are of immense value to those just starting out on the adventure of learning this challenging, but ultimately very satisfying style of handwriting.
