Blooming Landscaping
« on: April 28, 2024, 03:07:06 PM »
I have never been much of a Gardner. I love flowers and plants but somehow forget to take care of them. We planted new landscaping over a year ago and this is the first time it is blooming. It’s so exciting to see the new blossoms! And it’s almost care free! Anyone else have lots blossoming?

So beautiful!!!  Our daffodils did great this year.  We are a little behind you weather wise. My peonies are up, but not ready to bloom yet.  The redbud trees are everywhere and in full glory right now. ( Although we don’t have one). Every day the tree leaves are opening more and more….every thing is so green right now!

Oh sooo gorgeous @AnasaziWrites !  Are those Eden roses? So pretty! We have a climbing rose bush we planted last year that is going up the water spout in the front of the house and it is full of buds but only one rose has bloomed so far. I can’t wait to see it in full bloom.

Those white fluffy peonies! I bet your backyard looks spectacular!

@Erica McPhee

The roses are "New Dawn" roses. We planted them in 2008 to climb up and over the top of a portico in our back yard, and they are in full bloom just now. The real star this year is the peony plant, which we've had for 10 years at least, but until this year would only get a blossom or two at most. This year we have at least twenty, and the plant is about 4 times larger than it ever has been.The ferns likewise are enormous this year. Lots of rain in March did it, I guess. The lawn is still coming in (zoysia), but overall, the yard does look good just now.
Here are a couple more small flowers seen today (most would call these weeds, but they are pretty if one looks closely).

Great thread.
All of the flowers are so pretty.
The closest I get to being green fingered is when I spill my bottle of 'Racing Green' Diamine ink all over the covers and my hands. (Why do the manufacturers tighten the bloody lids so tight. GRRRRR)
My wife is the gardener in this house. She loves lily's (Lillies) and Orchids. She has a couple on the go at the moment but blackfly is rife at the moment.

Laughter is definitely the best medicine, but Wolves destroying WBA runs laughter close, and the Yankees winning the World Series is ................ laughter is the best medicine, remember?

lol. "Springtime" in the Northland (3 May) on one of our first days of really sunny, warm weather! It hit 60F today! Tomorrow it's back down to 50F and raining. But they say Spring moves north 5 miles a day, so we usually get our peonies in July.

Gorgeous, Erica!!  Wow.  I am envious of all of you who have such beautiful blooms in your yards.  My yard is shaded by redwood trees and a huge messy magnolia so I’m still trying to find shade friendly bloomers. I do have a cymbidium orchid in full bloom at least, otherwise it’s all just… green!  I’ll have a small amount of anemones later in the year.

Thanks Bianca! This is the first time we have had lots of flowering things in our landscaping. I love it! There are some that do well in shade. I think hydrangeas like a combo.  :-*

Erica, I did plant a climbing hydrangea in the fall - we’ll see how it goes! I’m so thrilled for you that you have all those blooms - what a joy to go outside and see all that life.
